EMBRYO TRANSFER AND THEREAFTER!
So on our trip up to Peoria on the Thursday after our Saturday egg retrieval, we get a call from the Embryologist. She said that we have one perfect Blastocyst (5 day old Embryo) and the other 4 have yet to turn into a blastocyst. Given that we can only transfer 2 embryos at this stage she said that she can't transfer the one of the remaining 4 as 1. they haven't turned into a blastocyst and 2. she can't pick which one is the best from that 4. So she recommended using our frozen embryo from our 3rd IVF in June. Dan and I agreed that that would be our best option. We could wait to see what happens to the remaining 4 and freeze them for later use. But when we got to the Fertility place they said that our little frozen embryo did not defrost and that it died. She said only 10% of embryos fail to defrost correctly and that something could have been wrong with this embryo. So sad. This one was a late developer thinking back. So, now we only have one to transfer. They said not to be sad bc we still have one really good blastocyst and that my odds of pregnancy are 60%! Thats a lot bigger than the 35% chance they gave me during my #3 IVF with 4 embryos transfered (day 3 embryos). So, they transferred our little one and I went home to 3 glorious days of bedrest!!! Dan was fantastic. Meals in bed (artfully arranged I might add), plenty of movies and reading...my mom even helped out during one 12 hour long day...Now we are over one week past transfer and I am feeling very hopeful. Got kinda sick just pushing the grocery cart around for an hour with the groceries and Jack in it so I had to leave the store. Jack carried in my groceries as I can't lift more than 10 pounds. He even put all the perishables away for me. I rewarded him with lots of Scobby Do. When Logan came home I had him do the dishwasher. His first time ever. He was a little dramatic saying his tongue hurt, etc, etc so I let him sleep with me since I was going to bed early. One secret that I only told Dan is that yesterday I had to have my first of 2 blood tests. The Fertility nurse wont tell you the outcome as it has to be compared with the 2nd blood test to be taken 4 days later...but the OB/Gyn nurse told me that the blood test was positive but it is very early but very preliminary!!!!! The nurse then called me back and said she wasn't supposed to tell me...but yeah!!!!! I can't get excited yet but I am kinda very hopeful!!!! More later!!!!
